How it works

How citations works

  1. 01

    Scans collect sources

Every prompt run stores the URLs the engine cited or linked in its answer.

  2. 02

    Each source is classified

Domains are labelled owned, competitor, editorial or user-generated, using your domain and the competitors you track.

  3. 03

    Rank by share

See which domains hold the largest share of citations in your market, and which pages within them.

  4. 04

    Act on the gaps

Spot a thread, listicle or video that engines keep citing, and decide whether to publish, pitch or participate.

Questions, answered

Which citations do you collect?

The source URLs an engine returns with its answer. Not every engine shows sources for every answer, so counts reflect what was returned.

How is a source classified?

By domain: yours is owned, tracked competitors are competitor, forums and video are user-generated, and the rest are editorial. You can adjust competitors in your project.

Does it include Reddit and YouTube?

Yes. They are classified as user-generated and listed with their threads and videos.

Can I see which of my pages get cited?

Yes. Filter to your own domain to see the URLs that are cited and the prompts behind them.

Does Citeflare post on Reddit for me?

No. Citeflare shows you where the conversation is happening. Engaging is up to you.
